Professor Rustam Shadiev is included in the list of “2021 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” in the field of Education

A few days ago, the 2021 Elsevier annual list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” was officially released and Professor Rustam Shadiev is included in the list. This is his second time when he is included in the list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers”. First time he was in the list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” in 2020. This year, the list is composed out of a total of 4,701 Chinese researchers from 523 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions with the most significant global influence in 84 first-level disciplines in 10 disciplines of the Ministry of Education.

 

Elsevier is the world’s leading academic publishing company specializing in scientific, technical, and medical content. Elsevier's 2021 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list uses Scopus, which is an authoritative global citation and index database, as the data source of the scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars, and adopts the method developed by Shanghai Ranking to analyze the scientific research performance of Chinese scholars from multiple dimensions. The selection conditions are that the publications are signed by Chinese (mainland) institutions in the latest Scopus publication and that the authors are currently working in China, including non-Chinese scholars.

 

Being included in the list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” means that the scholar has the highest number of cited papers published as a first author or corresponding author at the top level publication houses among all researchers in their discipline in China (i.e. mainland region), the scholar has an important influence in their research field, and the scholar’s scientific research achievements have made outstanding contributions to the development of their field.

 

Professor Rustam Shadiev has worked at Nanjing Normal University since 2016. He is a professor in the School of Education Science, and a distinguished professor in Jiangsu Province. He is also a director of the Institute of Intelligent Contextual Education & Technology. He teaches in the Department of Educational Technologies and manages the research laboratory of two doctoral and eight master’s degree students. His current research interest focuses on advanced learning technologies to support language learning and cross-cultural education. Since 2016, his research laboratory’s team has published more than 50 papers in SSCI journals. Professor Rustam Shadiev is listed as a first author in 37 of the papers and a corresponding author in 19 papers.

 

Professor Rustam Shadiev (罗斯坦) received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees with a specialization in education and techniques from Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan) in 1996. He graduated from Taiwan Central University in 2012 and received a PhD with a specialization in network learning technology. Professor Rustam Shadiev holds several important positions in and is a core member of various international educational organizations. For example, he is a fellow of the British Computer Society (https://www.bcs.org), a senior member of IEEE (https://www.ieee.org) and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (https://www.acm.org). Professor Rustam Shadiev serves as an editorial board member for journals such as Educational Technology & Society, Computers & Education Open, SAGE Open, Education Sciences and International Journal of Pervasive Computing and Communications. He is also a reviewer for such journals as Educational Research Review, Computers & Education, British Journal of Educational Technology, Educational Technology & Society, Educational Technology Research & Development, Computer Assisted Language Learning, and Australasian Journal of Educational Technology.
