2026 Chinese Government Scholarship"Silk Road" Scholarship Program
According to the notice on the application for the “Silk Road” Program of the Chinese Government Scholarship for the academic year 2026-2027, our university has formulated the application method for the “Silk Road Program” in 2026.The program is based on the principles of “individual application, institutional recommendation, expert assessment and selection on the basis of merit”, and selects international students with excellent academic background, professional ability and future development potential. The specific contents are as follows:
Ⅰ. Basic Requirements
A. The scholarship supports undergraduate students,master's students and doctoral students.
B. Study period:The study period for undergraduate students is 4 years, and for master students is 3 years,and for doctoral students is 4 years. (If Chinese language courses are required, the Chinese language study period is 1 year)
C. Teaching language: Chinese.

Ⅱ. Scholarship Coverage
A. Tuition fee will be waived, On-campus accommodation available;
B. Living allowance:
a) Undergraduate students: 2,500CNY/month
b) Master students: 3,000CNY/month
c) Doctor students: 3,500CNY/month
C. Comprehensive medical insurance: 800CNY per academic year. During studies, scholarship recipients are required to purchase comprehensive medical insurance.
Ⅲ. Eligibility
A. Applicants must be a non-Chinese citizen from the Belt and Road countries, in good physical and mental health, friendly to China, and of good character;
B. Applicants applying for a Bachelor degree must hold a high school diploma and be under the age of 25,with excellent academic performance;
C. Applicants applying for a Master degree must hold a Bachelor degree and be under the age of 35,with excellent academic performance;
D.Applicants applying for a Doctoral degree must hold a Master degree and be under the age of 40,with excellent academic performance;
E. Language proficiency requirements:
a) Applicants for Chinese-taught programs are required to provide proof of Chinese language proficiency.
b)Applicants for a Bachelor degree are required to obtain a HSK4(≥210) certificate;
c) Applicants for a Master degree are required to obtain a HSK5 (≥180) certificate.
d) Applicants for a Doctoral degree are required to obtain a HSK6 (≥180) certificate.
e) Applicants who have not met the Chinese proficiency requirements above but have basic Chinese proficiency(At least passing HSK3)can apply for a one-year Chinese language program first. They can commence their studies only after meeting our university’s Chinese language proficiency requirements.
Note: HSK scores remain valid for two years from the test date.
Ⅳ. Application Documents
A. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in Chinese or English).
B. Copy of Passport Home Page. (should be valid later than March 1st, 2027)
C. Notarized highest diploma and degree certificate. If the applicant is a student studying in school, applicant must submit the pre-graduation certificate or study certificate issued by school.
D. Transcripts. Applicants for bachelor's programs must submit complete high school transcripts and internationally recognized standardized test scores (e.g.,SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB). Applicants for master's programs must provide undergraduate transcripts (from the bachelor's program onward), accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations.
E. CSCA Transcript(For undergraduate applicants:Chinese( Humanities)、Mathematics)
F. Language proficiency certificate:HSK transcript.(Please refer to Ⅲ. Eligibility)
G. Study plan. A study plan written in Chinese or English must be submitted, with a minimum of 1,000 words. The content should focus on the applicant’s motivation for studying in China, understanding of China and the host institution, as well as the background of previous educational institution, academic background, research direction, and expected research outcomes.
H. Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of study in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth.
I. Non-criminal certificate. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal record or commitment issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
J. Foreigner Physical Examination Report. The applicant should strictly follow the items required in the Foreigner Physical Examination Record. Forms missing items, not having personal photos attached, or not having seals on the photos,signatures or seals from doctors and hospitals are invalid. The result is valid for only 6 months.
K. The Supervisor’s Acceptance Letter(Master's and doctoral applicants) must include the supervisor’s handwritten signature.
L. Proof of personal financial ability or financial guarantee certificate. If financial support is provided by others, please fill in the Financial Guarantee Form for International Students of Nanjing Normal University and submit the corresponding materials.(The deposit certificate requires a minimum of 50,000 RMB.)
M. If you have research achievements, please upload them in the Research Achievements section.
Note: Any falsified documents will result in disqualification from applying to our university.
Ⅴ. Application Procedure
A. From April 29 to May 11, 2026, please log in to our university’s international student online service system: https://njnu.17gz.org/; complete the online application.
B. The preliminary review results and pre-admission materials will be sent to applicants via the system’s internal messaging or email.
C. Students who have received the pre-admission letter from our university must log in to the “Chinese Government Scholarship Information System” before May 30, 2026.
Note: Log in to the website (http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina). Click on the “Online Registration Student Entrance” icon to enter and fill in the application information, then upload the scholarship application materials. When submitting the application, it is necessary to upload the pre-admission documents from Nanjing Normal University and the study plan signed by the supervisor. Choose Type B. The agency number of Nanjing Normal University is 10319)
Ⅵ. Notifications
A. Final admission results will be announced in July or August 2026. Please wait patiently.
B. All materials uploaded through the system (e.g: passport, diploma, transcripts, supervisor’s acceptance letter, etc.) must be clear, authentic, and valid. Any falsification, once verified, will result in the cancellation of the applicant’s admission.
C. If the applicant is a student studying in school, applicant must submit the pre-graduation certificate or study certificate issued by school (if successfully admitted, graduation certificate and degree certificate must be provided at the time of registration, if the applicant can’t provide, the admission will be cancelled).
D. Please pay attention to the deadline of the online application system. The final admission decision is subject to the approval by the China Scholarship Council. Our university will send the admission letter and other materials to scholarship recipients via email. Please ensure your email address is entered accurately and remains active. Failure to respond promptly to important notifications may result in missed opportunities, for which the applicant will take full responsibility.
E. Students granted with Chinese government scholarship are not eligible for other scholarships offered by Chinese governments at all levels and universities at the same time(Excluding all kinds of one-time award).
F. The university will review applications and finalize scholarship candidate lists by June 2nd, 2026, then submit them to CSC for approval. Admission Notices and JW201 Forms (Visa Application for Study in China) will be issued to admitted students in July or August.
G. If admitted successfully, students will start studying in Nanjing Normal University in early September, 2026. The exact registration date is subject to the information provided in the admission letter.
H. In principle, scholarship recipients are not allowed to change the institution, major, teaching language, or study duration specified in the Admission Letter.
I. Our university has not authorized any individuals or agencies to recruit students for the Chinese Government Scholarship. For any scholarship application inquiries, please contact our university directly.
