Labor and Social Security
1. Program Description
The Ginling College’s undergraduate program Labor and Social Security aims to cultivate “professional leaders” by preparing students to be competent, productive and innovative managers,researchers and administrators.Successful graduates are expected to have broad theoretical foundation, well-developed practical ability, innovative consciousness and ability, and relearning ability, applicable to managerial/research career in the public and private sectors, especially related to labor and social security, human resource management.
2. Program Duration and Credit
This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years.
A total of 153 credits are required upon the completion of the program.
3. Curriculum
Three modules of courses are offered for the program: Basic Curriculum, Essential Curriculum, and Elective Curriculum. The Basic and Essential curricula are compulsory for a Bachelor’s degree.
The Elective Curriculum in the list includes extended disciplinary courses offered by the school into which an individual student is admitted, as well as cross disciplinary courses offered by other schools. Students can choose the extended and cross disciplinary courses according to their personal interests and career plans; however, credits should be approved by the School.

Prerequisites:
This course provides students with theory, knowledge and skill about Social Security, improving students with a process for understanding and analyzing Social Security that will help them as they enter a career in society. It offers a detailed foundation for Introduction to Social Security, including chapters on historical Social Security, social/economic/political analysis on Social Security development, and Function and Meaning of Social Security. Discussing brings students up to date on the latest developments in Social Security, such as Old-age security, health and care, mental health managed care, employment and unemployment, social assistance, social welfare, housing and welfare reform, the campaign to restructure Social Security, reactions to current immigration issues, current threats to workers’ pensions, and policy responses to the problems of medicines, etc.
101204163002 Organizational Behavior (2 cr.)
Prerequisites:
This course is designed to give students the basic knowledge of human behavior needed to provide a more effective organizational environment. The three basic elements of the class will be, 1) the behavior of individuals in organizations, 2) group behavior in organizations, and 3) how their behaviors affect the overall performance of organizations. Special attention is given to individual difference, attitude, motivation, job satisfaction, communication, leadership, stress, change, and organizational culture.

Prerequisites:
This course introduces the basic concepts and definitions of statistics, graphic representation, data collecting, sorting, display and description, time series, sampling and inference, simple correlation and regression, statistical index, etc. On the basis of learning basic theoretical knowledge, combining case teaching with practice, this course is to cultivate students' ability of flexibly using the basic theory and methods learning from this course.

Prerequisites:
This course addresses the human resource function as a key strategic function in successful organizations. Key topic areas include: selection process, employment law, staffing, compensation, human resource development, and performance management. The course uses readings, lectures, class discussions, and application activities. The application activities will help students apply the concepts to their workplaces. HRM challenges will be examined and the emerging concept of strategic HRM will be highlighted.

Sociology research method is a important methodology foundation course for labor and social security professional. This course will introduce the methodology of qualitative study of sociology, study design and the basic skills of data acquisition and analysis skills. This Course will arrange small-scale theme social investigation for students.Based on the above, We must Master social research and thesis writing regulations.

Prerequisites:
Statistical analysis by using SPSS is a important methodology foundation course for labor and social security professional. This course will introduce the methodology of quantitative study of sociology, Social investigation and study design, Social survey the basic skills of data acquisition and analysis skills. Based on the above, We must Master social research and thesis writing regulations. This Course also require students to read related literature and To carry on the actual research.

Prerequisites:
- Master the basic principles, specific process and basic methods of personnel recruitment;
- Master the basic principles of personnel quality assessment and the construction methods of evaluation standard system;
- Master four skills of human resource evaluation;
- The correct selection and use of personnel quality skills and tools;
- Write analysis reports of testing and evaluation.

Prerequisites:
The course is based on the theories of labor relations under market economy and incorporates the actual situation of China's labor relations. It discusses the history and theory of labor relations, its types and patterns, environmental factors, international labor standards, the main factors of labor relations (including workers, labor unions, employers and employer associations, government), operation and coordination of labor relations (including the establishment of labor relations, legal norms of operation, operating mechanism and system, etc.), conflict conditioning of labor relations (including labor relations disputes and conflicts, labor dispute settlement system and method, unfair labor practice remedies, etc.) and other issues.

Prerequisites:
This course is a compulsory course for the labor and social security major students. It is designed to provide an overview of social policy theory and practice, and it emphasizes on contemporary China. Therefore, the course will divide into two parts: social policy theory study and social policy analysis. It will segment social policy into five steps according to its process which begins with social problem and ends with policy evaluation. It encourages students to analyze and discuss about various elements of social policy and in various branches such as social security, education, health etc.

Prerequisites:
The course discusses the theories and practices of macro employment and labor management, based on macroeconomics, labor economics and the basic theory of public management. It is established on market economy and China's national conditions, focusing on the practical needs of labor and social security practices, and discusses the following topics: basic theory and policies of employment, labor supply and demand, labor market, the history and current status of China’s labor and employment, employment structure, employment strategy, employment management, vocational introduction and guidance, special groups’ employment, unemployment and informal employment. Through the study of Introduction to Employment, students will master the basic theory of employment, and build up the theoretical and political foundation for their future work in macro-management (government) or micro-management (human resources management of enterprises and institutions).
