History
1. Program Description
The History program aims to cultivate morally, intellectually and physically developed professional talents with solid history knowledge, strengthening students’ humanistic quality with leading ability and innovative ability, and broadening students’ international horizon as well as stimulating their knowledge–thirsting spirit. Successful graduates are expected to be competent, productive and innovative researchers, teachers, secretaries, editors, reporters and administrators.
After graduation from this program, the students would be awarded a Bachelor’s degree in History, and should become high-level professional talents with profound basic theories and sound specialized knowledge in historical studies, history popularization and other liberal arts skills, containing the personal qualities of confidence, integrity and perseverance applicable to all types of academic research institutions, various government offices, press and publications, schools and colleges, etc.
2. Program Duration and Credit
This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years.
A total of 155 credits are required upon the completion of the program.
3. Curriculum
Three modules of courses are offered for the program: Basic Curriculum, Essential Curriculum, and Elective Curriculum. The Basic and Essential Curricula are compulsory for a Bachelor’s degree.
The Elective Curriculum in the list includes extended disciplinary courses offered by the school into which an individual student is admitted, as well as cross disciplinary courses offered by other schools. Students can choose the extended and cross disciplinary courses according to their personal interests and career plans; however, credits should be approved by the School.

Ancient Chinese History(I) is an important elementary course of history major which covers the period from prehistoric times to teach before the establishment of the Sui Dynasty, including political、economic、cultural、social factors and ethnic relations etc.
100301023002 Ancient Chinese History (II) (4 cr.)
Ancient Chinese History (II) is an important elementary course of history major which covers the period from Sui and Tang Dynasty to The Opium War in the Qing Dynasty, including political, economic, cultural, social factors and ethnic relations etc.
100301023003 Modern Chinese History (I) (4 cr.)
The main content of "Chinese modern history" (I) covers about 80 years of history from the Opium War in 1840 to the May 4th movement of 1919 in modern China.
100301023004 Modern Chinese History (II) (4 cr.)
The course shows the development of the history of modern China by elaborating the great and typical historical events, focusing on expanding the breadth of the content and outguessing the inevitable trend of history from seemingly accidental interest.
100301023005 Contemporary Chinese History (3 cr.)
The course covers the new China's politics, economy, culture, diplomacy, science and technology education, military and so on various aspects of major change.

It deeply narrates the origins of mankind and the course of the ancient civilizations of the world, striving to expose the characteristics of the ancient world in the different periods.

The course several main contents: （1）the Great Migration of Asia and Europe peoples（2）the Christian civilization in the Western Europe（3）Christian civilization of in the Eastern Europe （4）the feudal civilization in the Asian countries, especially Arab Empire and Japan（5）the beginning of the West Modernization.

The modern world history is that to study the capitalism rising, developing in western world, expanding outside the Europe and the great changes caused by it in the whole world.
100301023009 Modern World History (3 cr.)
This course is mainly about the major political, economic, military, diplomatic and social activities in countries and regions from the October Revolution to the end of the Second World War.
100301023010 Contemporary World History (3 cr.)
This course mainly focuses on the nations and regions had undergone significant political, economic, military, diplomatic and social activities from the end of World War II to the early stage of 21th century.
100601023001 An Introduction to Historiography (3 cr.)
This course introduces students to the basic theory and method of history。It includes the Marxist historical perspective, contemporary Chinese historical theories and western history theories.
