Brief Introduction: this paper is one of the mid-term results of "Review and Reflection on China's Education Reform and Development in the Past 40 Years of Reform and Opening up", the 2018 key topic of education in the 13th Five-Year Plan of the National Social Science Foundation, and was presided over by Professor Xianming Xiang. It was published in issue 03, 2019 of the Journal of the Chinese Society of Education and reprinted in XinhuaDigest on June 20th, 2019.On the basis of summing up the historical experience of China's educational reform and development, the paper has carried out a strategic analysis and research on the characteristics of the rapid development of artificial intelligence and its profound and extensive influence in the field of education, and it also further discussed the problem of how to train teachers under such a background.Professor Xianming Xiang believes that the advent of artificial intelligence era has brought a series of severe challenges to our educational system and teachers. How teachers respond to these challenges successfully plays a crucial role in whether education can respond to this successfully. Morality, emotion and so on, are the key characteristics that belong solely to human beings and are difficult to be emulated by artificial intelligence. In order to successfully meet the challenges of artificial intelligence, it is very important for teachers to be of high quality in the areas of morality, emotion, philosophy, aesthetics, critical thinking and be creative. We should prepare for this in advance and begin to focus on the cultivation of these key qualities of teachers from now on.
