Chengzhou He (b. 1967) received his BA (English), and MA (British Literature) from Nanjing Normal University, China and PhD from Oslo University, Norway.
Chengzhou He is a Changjiang Distinguished Professor (Yangtze River Scholar)of English and Drama at Nanjing University, and a Foreign Member of Academia Europaea (the Academy of Europe). His main research areas include: European and American Drama, Intercultural Theatre, Comparative Literature, Ibsen Studies and Literary Criticism. In addition to numerous articles in both Chinese and English, he has published more than ten books at home and abroad. He is currently the Chinese Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies, Director of the Chinese-Nordic Cultural Center and Chinese Co-Director of the Nanjing-Brown Joint Program in Gender Studies and Humanities.He is a former deputy dean of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Science (IAS), Nanjing University, former Chairman of the International Ibsen Committee, and won the “Ibsen Medal” (2002) in Norway.
