School of Fine Arts graduation exhibition 2017

On the morning of May 23rd , the opening ceremony of 2017 graduation exhibition of School of Fine Arts of Nanjing Normal University(hereinafter to be referred as NNU) was successfully held at gallery of Yuanmei Building in Xianlin campus. The exhibition was also the one of a series of activities celebrating NNU’s 115th anniversary. NNU vice president and professor Baiqi Pan attended the opening ceremony together with students, teachers and related staff from School of Arts of Soochow University, Jiangsu Artists, Academy of Fine Arts of Nanjing University, School of Arts of Southeast University, School of Fine Arts of Nanjing University of the Arts, School of Fine Arts of Jiangsu Normal University, College of Media and Art of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, School of Fine Arts of Huaiyin Normal University, School of Art and Design of Nanjing Institution of Technology, other universities and colleges of he Propaganda Department of Party Committee of Qixia District, Nanjing, enterprise and public institution, and NNU publicity department, dean’s office, office of student affairs, graduate school and university Youth League Committee and NNU School of Fine Arts,etc.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Yi Zhu, the secretory of the Party committee of NNU School of Fine Arts. Professor She Liu, the director of the School of Fine Arts, delivered a welcome speech and professor Zhusong Jiang, the director of School of Arts of Soochow University, made a speech of congratulation in the session. Professor Baiqi Pan, vice president of NNU, announced the formal opening of the graduation exhibition.

The whole duration of the exhibition was eight days consisting of two displays. The exhibition of arts was from May 23rd  to 26th and the exhibition of design was from June 2nd to 5th. The graduation exhibitions covered areas of arts and design aggregated to 14 minor directions within the two majors. The creativity forms included Chinese painting, oil painting, watercolor painting, gouache, sculpture, calligraphy, visual communication design, environmental art and presentation design, industrial design, ceramic art, clothing and dress design, toy design, decorative art, animation and photography, etc. The exhibition unveiled the creativity and originality of NNU graduates of School of Fine Arts with various work styles and rich content. 

Graduates of School of Fine Arts showed the pursuit and thinking over true art with their active creativity and fine art skills. Each piece was the combination of the culture and society, wisdom and emotion, value and experience jointly worked out by students and supervisors. It was once said in The Analects of Confucius that man should set Dao as his goal, live in accordance with the high morality, rely on the benevolence and study the six classical arts. The exhibition themed over “goal setting and classical arts studying” was the starting point for the graduates’ bright artistic future and the beginning of their art journey.
