Qi Wang, a Student from the School of Sports Science and Physical Education at NNU, Takes Gold in Men's Hammer Throw at the Universiade

At the 31st Summer Universiade, Qi Wang, from the School of Sports Science and Physical Education of NNU, was crowned the champion in the men's hammer throw, adding a gold medal for the Chinese national team. Hearing this good news, the Jiangsu Provincial Athletics Association sent a congratulatory letter to NNU.

Qi Wang entered NNU in 2019 as a freshman. As a rising star for the China national men's hammer throw team, Qi Wang won the championship with 76.30 meters at the 2019 Youth Games of the People's Republic of China and broke the national youth record in the event. In June 2023, he won the gold medal in the men's hammer throw with a personal best of 75.53 meters in the Czech Republic. In July 2023, in the men’s hammer throw final at the Asian Athletics Championships, with a throw of 72.13 meters in the fourth round, he won the championship. It was the first time in Qi Wang’s career to win the championship in an adult intercontinental competition. Then on August 4, 2023, Qi Wang won the gold medal in men's hammer throw at the Universiade.
