Professor She Liu from the School of Fine Arts of NNU was awarded the Medal of "Distinguished Artist" by the Austrian Ministry of Culture

On the evening of January 20th, 2020, local time, the "Vienna International Medal of Art" recognition ceremony was held at the Hofburg in Vienna, Austria. Professor She Liu from the School of Fine Arts of Nanjing Normal University (NNU) was awarded the Medal of "Distinguished Artist". Heinz Fischer, a former Austrian president and chairman of the Austria-China Friendship Association, and Thomas Drozda, a former Austrian Minister of Culture attended the event and delivered speeches. Xiaosi Li, the ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Austria, and Ping Chen, the cultural exhibitor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Austria all attended the grand ceremony along with their wives.

The Vienna International Medal of Arts was established to honor artists from China, Austria and other countries who have made outstanding achievements in the fields of literature, music, dance, and fine arts, especially to provide a new platform and opportunity for deepening the China-Austria friendship and promoting the development of contemporary art of the two countries. The ceremony honoring those in the art community was led by the Austrian Ministry of Culture and organized by the European Academy of Arts. More than 10 people were honored, including Mr. Shangyi Jin, former dean of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and artists from Austria and other western countries, among whom was an artist over the age of 90.

She Liu was born in 1960 in Macheng City, Hubei Province, dean, a professor and a doctoral supervisor of the School of Fine Arts of Nanjing Normal University, the vice chairman of the Chinese Painting Association in Jiangsu Province, vice director of the Fine Arts Education Committee of the China Artists Association, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee for Fine Arts Major of the Committee of Teaching Steering of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, a member of the discipline evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. At the same time, he has been employed by the Academic Degrees Office and the Ministry of Education of the State Council as a member of the International Teaching Steering Committee for Professional Degree Education of Master of Arts. His works have achieved abundant awards and have been shown in several exhibitions including "The 7th, 9th and 11th National Fine Arts Exhibitions", "Chinese Contemporary Meticulous Painting Exhibition", "Chinese Art Biennale" (Canada), "Chinese Art Exhibition" (United States) and "The First Landscape Painting Exhibition".
