On September 9-13, 2019, the 14th World Congress of Semiotics of the International Association for Semiotic Studies-L’Association Internationale de Sémiotique (IASS-AIS) was held in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina. Professor Jie Zhang from the School of Foreign Languages and Cultures of Nanjing Normal University (NNU) led a delegation to attend the congress. As good things often came in pairs, he was successfully elected Vice President of the IASS-AIS and was re-elected as Executive Director of the China area.
Representing the world's largest interdisciplinary organization in semiotics, the IASS-AIS covers a broad range of research fields, including linguistics, literature, culture, history, communication, cognitive science, biology, psychology etc. The 14th congress embraced more than 700 attendees from 45 countries, becoming such a grand occasion never seen before in history.
During the meeting, Professor Jie Zhang led the delegation of NNU to deliver keynote speeches and academic reports during different sessions. Those speeches by NNU representatives and their host of round tables were highly praised by the participants, thus impressing the global semiotic spectrum with the team’s prominent research strength.
Faculty from School of Foreign Languages and Cultures attended the congress as well.
