President Guihong Hua Led a Delegation to Visit Macao University of Science and Technology

From March 26 to 28, 2025, President Guihong Hua led a delegation to visit Macao University of Science and Technology at the university’s invitation and attended its 25th anniversary celebration. This visit further strengthened the educational partnership between our university and Macao University of Science and Technology.

During the visit, President Guihong Hua held talks with Professor Chuan Pang, Vice President of Macao University of Science and Technology, as well as with leaders of its Graduate School. They engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on the development of the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, youth interactions between Jiangsu and Macao, serving national strategies, and strengthening discipline development and scientific research collaboration.

President Guihong Hua attended the university’s 25th anniversary celebration and honorary doctorate conferment ceremony. Founded in 2000, Macao University of Science and Technology is a comprehensive university with nine colleges, over 23,000 students, and hosts four national-level research platforms. The institution has ranked among the top 300 in the Times Higher Education rankings for six consecutive years and was ranked 38th in the 2024 THE World’s Young Universities Rankings.

President Guihong Hua and his delegation visited the Macao University of Science and Technology’s National Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences. This laboratory is distinguished by its strong focus and international influence in physics. The physics discipline at our university is a nationally top-tier program and is recognized as an “priority discipline” in Jiangsu Province. It has jointly established the Frontiers Physics and Astrophysics Research Center with the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Through on-site research and discussions, the delegation aims to expand scientific collaboration in physics between the two universities, promote joint innovation in cutting-edge areas such as planetary science and deep space exploration, and provide research support for the nation’s deep space exploration initiatives.

During the Macau visit, President Guihong Hua also met with the Nanjing Normal University Macau Alumni Association representatives. Yujie Chen, President of the Macau Alumni Association, introduced the development of the alumni association to leaders of NNU and expressed alumni members’ support and concern for the development of the university’s cause.
