NNU Received a donation of ¥10 million from Ruihua Charity Foundation

Ruihua Charity Foundation donated 10 million yuan(1.53 million dollars) to set up “Ruihua Freshman Grant” and “Ruihua Special Grant” in Nanjing Normal University August 30th, 2017.It is the first time for this foundation to donate in education since its establishment in April. President of Ruihua Group and Chairman of Ruihua Charity Foundation Jianbin Zhang, Vice Chairman Aoxing Zhang, Directors Zhengjing Dong and Wenhai Lai, General Secretary Songjie Zhang, Secretary of NNU Committee of CPC Minqiang Hu, Vice President Xuyu Zhang and Vice President Youlian Sun attended the signing ceremony. Host of the ceremony was Youlian Sun.

The donation agreement was signed by President Jianbin Zhang and NNU Vice President Xuyu Zhang. According to this agreement, Ruihua Charity Foundation would donate 10 million yuan to establish and “Ruihua Freshman Grant” and “Ruihua Special Grant” in NNU. The “Ruihua Freshman Grant”, as one of the few freshman grant program among colleges in China, would be offered mainly to the poverty- stricken first year undergraduate students. On the registration day they could receive the grant, which would be the first financial-aid and an encouragement for them. The “Ruihua Special Grant” would select a group of poor students who have excellent academic performanceand support them for 4 years in a row. In this long-lasting way, aided students could devote themselves to studies and self-development without economic pressure.

The ‘Ruihua Charity Foundation” was officially unveiled in April, 2017 with the biggest original fund of one billion yuan in Jiangsu province. It was co-founded by Jiangsu Ruihua Investment Holding Group which donated 200 million yuan and its president Jianbin Zhang who donated 800 million yuan himself. Since its establishment, Ruihua Charity Foundation has been paying high attention to poor college students in Jiangsu and been hoping to provide financial-aid to poor students from poverty-stricken areas, especially those from western regions or other remote areas in China.

Staff members of Ruihua Group and Ruihua Charity Foundation, directors in NNU departments concerned, representatives of teachers and students also attended the ceremony.
