Recently, the 2017 Work Conference for Domestic Chinese Testing Centers was held in Shandong province by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), 241 representatives from 146 testing centers around the country attending the conference. At the conference, Nanjing Normal University Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi & Hanyu Shuiping Kouyu Kaoshi (HSK & HSKK) testing center was among the 17 centers which were honored “Excellent Chinese Testing Center” of 2016 in China.
NNU HSK & HSKK testing center is the only one to won this title among centers in universities of Jiangsu province and has won it for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). In 2015, only 8 centers were given this honor.
NNU HSK & HSKK testing center was set up in 2002, offering services to foreign students in NNU, minority examinees as well as examinees from across China.
So far, foreign students’ education in NNU has been for over 50 years since the enrollment of Vietnam students from 1965. Every year, more than 1,800 overseas students from over 100 countries and regions come to study in NNU. As a model base authorized by the Ministry of Education for foreign students’ education and base for teaching Chinese to foreigners, one of the first bases for Chinese language education and HSK testing center, NNU has established intercollegiate exchange relationships with more than 80 universities from over 20 countries and regions and has developed extensive cooperation in exchanging teachers and students, developing joint programs, Chinese education for foreign students, training teachers and compiling teaching materials. It has established 3 Confucius Institutes in North Carolina State University, Pace University and France’s Alsace Region, making great contribution to Chinese education and cultural communication.
