Kenneth H. Cooper talks about aerobic exercise and physical health of youth

The International Academic Forum of Aerobic Exercise and Physical Health of Youth (hereinafter refer to as Forum) organized by School of Sports Science and Physical Education of Nanjing Normal University (NNU) was held in Xianlin campus on April 22nd. Professor Jian Wang, NNU vice secretary of the Party, Doctor Kenneth H. Cooper, the Father of Aerobic Exercise, Doctor Tyler Clark Cooper, president and CEO of the U.S. Cooper Aerobic Exercise Center, Weizhong Zhu, chairman and CEO of the China Cooper Aerobic Exercise Center, academician Weimo Zhu, a distinguished alumni of NNU School of Sports Science and Physical Education and tenured professor of University of Illinois, Sally Edwards, a living legend in the circle of American business and in the filed of scientific exercising and healthy living, Doctor Tuomo Rankinen, working at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in U.S. state of Louisiana, and others attended the Forum. Supervisors and student representatives from Beijing Sport University and East China Normal University took part in the activity. 

On the opening ceremony of the Forum, dean of NNU School of Sports Science and Physical Education extended warm welcome to the experts and representatives presented, and made a brief introduction on the theme of the Forum. Doctor Tyler Clark Cooper expressed his great pleasure in leading the Cooper team to NNU second time seven years after his father Kenneth H. Cooper had done in his speech. During the session, Tyler Clark Cooper put great emphasis on the importance of aerobic exercising to the physical and mental health of youth providing with his own growing experience. Weizhong Zhu attached importance to the “Cooperization”, which would bring a healthy and bright future to the Chinese youth during the speech. Zhu also explained the basic role of physical exercising played in human health and intelligence development. 

During the session of academic reporting, Doctor Kenneth H. Cooper, the Father of Aerobic Exercise, Doctor Tuomo Rankinen, working at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in U.S. state of Louisiana, and Sally Edwards, a living legend in the circle of American business and in the filed of scientific exercising and healthy living, all made their special reports sharing ideas with other attendees.

The strategic cooperation between NNU School of Sports Science and Physical Education and the U.S. Cooper Aerobic Exercise Center was formally launched on the day with cooperative agreement signed by professor Jian Wang and Doctor Kenneth H. Cooper.

The establishment of cooperative relationship between NNU and the U.S. Cooper Aerobic Exercise Center would be of great importance to the success work done by NNU in student physical health monitoring in Jiangsu province. The success of the Forum was regarded as a further step in the process of internationalization of the NNU School of Sports Science and Physical Education.
