A delegation from Turkmenistan headed by the chief specialist of the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan visited NNU
On May 13th, 2019 President Guoxiang Chen of Nanjing Normal University met with a delegation from Turkmenistan that included Hemra Hayyrov, chief specialist of the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, Professor Amanguly Magtymov from the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, Yazmammet Atayev, the president of the Central Council of Dashogus of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli, Sedar Shihiyer, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China.



Guoxiang Chen warmly welcomed the delegation and gave a general introduction to the university, the features of its disciplines and the development of international cooperation of NNU, and especially about the admission students from Turkmenistan. He pointed out that 44 Turkmen students in total have graduated from NNU since 2013 and currently there are 25 Turkmen students studying at NNU. The university attaches great importance to the education and cultivation of Turkmen students as an important component of the “Belt and Road” educational cooperation and it is also a significant way to nurture young talent and enhance the traditional friendship between China and Turkmenistan through educational cooperation and exchanges. He hoped that the visit of Hemra Hayyrov can advance more results-oriented cooperation programs being carried out.
Hemra Hayyrov expressed his sincere thanks to NNU for its hospitality and dedication to the cultivation of Turkmen students and briefly introduced the university’s exchanges between Turkmenistan and China in place right now. He said that as the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and China continues to deepen, the demand for Chinese language teaching and teacher training in Turkmen colleges and universities is growing. As the first batch of colleges and universities to receive international students from Turkmenistan, Nanjing Normal University plays an important role cultivating outstanding young talent from Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to sending students to study in China, with the expectation that they can not only acquire knowledge, but also draw lessons from China's success in their development and grow into excellent leaders throughout all walks of life in Turkmenistan after their studies are completed.
Lixin Tian stated that NNU is committed to promoting international cooperation and exchanges in higher education with countries along the Belt and Road. NNU welcomes Turkmenistan colleges and universities to recommend outstanding undergraduates to pursue master and Ph.D degrees at NNU and is willing to carry out teacher training programs with Turkmen colleges and universities.
During the visit, the delegation visited Turkmen international students studying at our school and encouraged them to work hard studying Chinese language and culture during their stay at NNU. Leaders from the International Exchange Department of NNU also attended this meeting.
