A Delegation from the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of Kagoshima, Japan Visited Nanjing Normal University

On the morning of January 16, 2025, a delegation from the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of Kagoshima, Japan Visited Nanjing Normal University. Cheng Tianjun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Vice President of NNU met with Kanako Sakamoto, Undersecretary of the Department of Tourism. 

Cheng Tianjun warmly welcomed Undersecretary Kanako Sakamoto and introduced the guests to the historical development, founding objectives, operational scale, disciplinary strengths, and international cooperation and exchange initiatives of NNU. He emphasized the exchange and cooperation programs with Japanese universities, particularly focusing on the areas of faculty and student exchanges, international student training, visiting programs, and international conferences. It is hoped that Undersecretary Kanako Sakamoto's visit will further enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation between NNU and Kagoshima across various fields, leading to new achievements in their partnership.

Undersecretary Kanako Sakamoto expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from NNU and reviewed the strong exchange and cooperation mechanisms established between Kagoshima, Japan, and Jiangsu since their friendly exchanges began in 1985. These collaborations have spanned various fields including human resource development, agriculture, education, tourism, and sports. Since 1997, a total of 18 civil servants from the Kagoshima Government have received Chinese language training at NNU. Upon completion of this training, all of them have been assigned to key positions within the Kagoshima Government's offices in China. She thanked NNU for its support and assistance in providing this training for Kagoshima Government civil servants and expressed her hope for continued collaboration in Chinese language talent cultivation and cultural exchanges.

Also present at the meeting were the heads of the Asia-Europe Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of NNU, and the School of Foreign Languages.
