Vice President of Nanjing Normal University
Xiaojin Zhu, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor, is currently a Vice President of Nanjing Normal University, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC, and a member of CPPCC.
In 1981, he graduated from Peking University with a Bachelor's degree. In 1984, he graduated from Peking University with a Master’s degree. In 1998, he graduated from Nanjing University with a Ph.D. degree in literature.
Professor Zhu was among the first group of National Famous University Professors (2003), a National Model Teacher (2004), a National Outstanding Young College Teacher (2002), Scholar with a Special Government Allowance offered by the State Council (1998), Jiangsu Province Outstanding Social Scientist (1998), a Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions (2001), a Famous University Professor in Jiangsu Province (2003), a Jiangsu Province"Six Talent Peak" Expert (2007), a Jiangsu Province “Project 333”Leading Talent (2007), and a Jiangsu Province “Project 333” Talent (Tier 1) (2013 ).
Professor Zhu has mainly been engaged in research on contemporaryChineseliterature. He presided over the National Key Discipline of "Modern and ContemporaryChineseLiterature" (2007), one of the first National Excellent Courses "Modern and ContemporaryChinese Literature" (2004), National Teaching Innovation Team (2007), National Talent Cultivation Innovation and Experimental Zone (2009), Jiangsu Province Excellent UniversityDiscipline Team (2002), Jiangsu Province "Green-blue Project" for Outstanding Scientific and Technological Innovation Teams at Universities (2008), Jiangsu Province Key Class-A Discipline (2007), Jiangsu Province Outstanding Discipline (2011), Jiangsu Province Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center (2014), and Jiangsu Provincial Center for Contemporary Writers (2014).
Professor Zhu has also led 1 Key Project funded by the National Social Science Foundation, 4 general projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, 2 projects funded by the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Fund, and 13 projects funded by provincial authorities. He has edited 6 national textbooks and published more than 200 research papers in major academic journals, such as the China Social Scienceand Literary Review.
Professor Zhu’s academic achievements include First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize of the Ministry of Education Outstanding Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Sciences (2013,2009, and1998), First Prize of Jiangsu Province's Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences on three occasions (1997,2007, and 2011), Second Prize of Jiangsu Province's Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences (2005), Third Prize of the Jiangsu Province Outstanding Achievements Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences on four occasions (1988,1994,2001, and 2003), First Prize of Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences ThesisAward (from 1990 to 2001) and (2002), and Second and Third Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education's Award for Outstanding University Achievement in Humanities and Social Sciences (1996, 1999).
Professor Zhu has won the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education National Teaching Achievement Award for Universities (2009), an Award for Supervisor of a National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, the Grand Prize of Jiangsu Province's Outstanding Teaching Achievement at a University on two occasions (2004,2009), First Prize of Jiangsu Province's Outstanding Teaching Achievement at Universities (2001), Second Prize ofthe Ministry of Education’s National Outstanding Textbook Award for Universities (2002), Excellent Post-graduate Course in the Jiangsu Province (2002), and Jiangsu Province Outstanding Course Group (2002).
Professor Zhu is also Member of the Chinese Language Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Vice Chairman of the National Lu Xun Studies Association, Vice Chairman of the National Ye Shengtao Studies Association, Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Association of Lu Xun Studies, Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Association of Ye Shengtao Studies, and Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Association of Modern Chinese Literature Studies.
