Jiandong Miao, Doctor of Education, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor, is a Vice President of Nanjing Normal University.
In 1984 Professor Miao graduated from the Department of Education, Nanjing Normal University, with a Bachelor’s degree of Education (majoring in School Education). In 1998, he graduated from the School of Education, Nanjing Normal University, with a Doctor’s degree of Education (majoring in Principles of Education). In 2002, he worked at the University of Toronto in Canada as a Senior Visiting Scholar.
Professor Miao is currently engaged in research on adult education, particularly family education. He has led a number of research projects funded by the Humanities and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and key projects funded by the Jiangsu Province Social Science Foundation. His publications include the Sociology of Family Education, Family Education and over 60 peer-reviewed articles in a number of influential academic journals. He has been awarded a number of honors such as the "National Excellent Individual in Family Education" that is jointly recognized by the National Women's Federation and the Ministry of Education.
Professor Miao is also a member of the Academic Committee of the China Adult Education Association, Vice Chairman of the Family Education Committee of the China Association of Education, a member of the Jiangsu Province Education Consultation Committee, Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Education Society, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Higher Education Association, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Family Education Society, and Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Province Adult Education Association.
