Limin Zhang

Vice President

Limin Zhang, Doctor of Science, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor, is currently Vice President of Nanjing Normal University.

In July 1994, Limin Zhang graduated from the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Lakes of Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a doctoral degree. In 1997, he worked as a visiting scholar at the Japanese Lake Biwa Research Institute.

Professor Zhang’s main research domains include drainage basin water environment management and planning, environmental treatment, and ecological restoration for river system. He has led more than 10 international cooperation programs and national or provincial projects on environmental protection. From 2008 to 2012, he presided over "Key Technology and Engineering Demonstration of Load-shedding for Urban Sewage and Key Industries” in the National Major Special Program on "Water Pollution Control and Treatment" (2008ZX07101-003). The project was completed and passed inspection by the National Office of Special Water Projects. He has won 4 Science and Technology Progress Awards issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, including 1 First Prize (2014), 1 Second Prize (1998), 2 Third Prizes (2006, 2007); 1 China Petroleum and Chemical Technology Progress Award (2005); 2 Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Awards, Third Prizes (2005, 2009); 5 Jiangsu Province Excellent Engineering Consulting Achievement Awards, including 2 First Prizes (2008, 2009); more than 10 national patents. He has also published 10 books, including Research on Technologies for Treating Industrial Organic Toxic Wastewater and Treating Traces of Toxicity in Drinking Water and Research on Treatment and Planning for Rivers Running into Taihu Lake, and over 40 papers carried by domestic and international core journals.

In 1999, he was elected as one of the professional talents in the Tier-3 Program of Jiangsu Province "Project 333" Talent Project. In 2000, he won the title of the “4th Group of Outstanding Scientific and Technological Professionals in Jiangsu Province”. In 2001, he was recognized as “Young Expert with Outstanding Contribution in Jiangsu Province”. In 2003, he was recognized as “China’s Excellent Professional in Science and Technology for Environmental Protection”. In 2007, he was approved by the State Council as “Expert Eligible for Special Government Allowance”. He also works as Member of National Panel for Taihu Lake Basin in Major Water Protection Program, Member of Jiangsu Provincial Experts Committee for Water Pollution Prevention and Control and Cyanobacteria Prevention and Control at Taihu Lake, and Member of Editorial Board of the academic journal Lake Science.
