Efficient Topological Materials Discovery Using Symmetry Indicators

Xiangang Wan
Xiangang Wan is a professor of the School of Physics, Nanjing University. He pursued his study at Nanjing University from 1990 to 2000, and successively obtained bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree from the university. At first, he was a lecturer, and then he became an associate professor at Nanjing University since 2001. In 2010, he was selected as a professor. His main academic achievements are as follows: he proposed a new topological quantum state--Weyl semi-metal which has aroused research fever of Weyl semi-metals in the world, a set of methods for calculating magnetic interactions, the ground state magnetic configuration in multiple complex systems, and the method of symmetry indicators used to judge the topological properties of all non-magnetic materials. He was also the awardee of Daniel Tsui Fellowship honored by the University of Hong Kong. In 2015, he received National Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholar. In 2016, he was named Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education, China.
