Pedagogy
1. Program Description
The undergraduate program Pedagogy aims to cultivate students’ good moral character, profound humanities quality, strong education research ability and broad international vision, preparing students to be compound professionals who can engage in teaching, research and management in schools, education scientific research institutions, education counseling organizations, educational media company, and education administrative department, and preparing students to be reserve academic talents who are interested in further development in educational research.
2. Program Duration and Credit
This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years.
A total of 160 credits are required upon the completion of the program.
3. Curriculum
Three modules of courses are offered for the program: Basic Curriculum, Essential Curriculum, and Elective Curriculum. The Basic and Essential curriculums are compulsary for a Bachelor’s degree.
The Elective Curriculum in the list includes extended disciplinary courses offered by the school into which an individual student is admitted, as well as cross disciplinary courses offered by other schools. Students can choose the extended and cross disciplinary courses according to their personal interests and career plans; however, credits should be approved by the School.

Prerequisites: None
This course has guiding role in the study of other educational subjects. It takes "education" as research object, see the education as a complex system, reveal the basic structure of the education system, knowledge of education and social development, the law relationship between education and individual development, and ultimately a comprehensive understanding and grasp of the purpose of complex educational phenomenon.
In this course, students will master the basic knowledge, basic concepts and basic theories of education, and to form an overall understanding of education; familiar with the basic law of education and human development, education and social development, the basic law of education to analyze the problems in the reform and development of education; form a scientific concept of education, improve the analysis of educational phenomena, the ability to solve the problem of education.
100401042102 Educational Psychology (3.00 cr.)
Prerequisites: General Psychology
The course is a series of courses that reflect the psychological process as well as the regular of teachers' teaching and students' learning. Its main contents include: the relationship between education and learning,theories of learning,influences of teachers' teaching and students' learning,learning transfer,learning strategies and methods,moral learning, etc.
Through the course, students will(1) understand the particularity of education, as well as the relationship between psychology and education; (2) comprehend the classic learning theory and modern cognitive learning theory, master the mental process and general law of students' learning; (3) understand the concept and classification system of learning strategies so as to guide the students' learning; (4)master the mental process of moral learning, as well as the strategy and method of moral education.
100401042105 History of Chinese Education (3.00 cr.)
Prerequisites: Introduction to Education
The main purpose of this course is making students understand and master the process of education system and educational ideology (including occurrence, development and evolution) of China since ancient times. The course summarizes experience lessons and feature of different historical stages of education, it makes a scientific evaluation, and explores the objective law of education development. It helps students broaden their horizons of educational knowledge and lay foundation for further studying other educational courses.
This course teaches the history of Chinese education system and educational thought from ancient times. The history of Chinese education system is taught in one era after another, it includes: the content of education policy, the establishing process and significance; the establishing process of school system and its effects on social development; the evolution of management of students and teachers in school, course contents and teaching organization form, etc. History of educational thoughts is taught in the generation time of different School and Thought sequentially. The principle is to stress the key points and clarify the development of education thoughts, the main content is educationists’ thoughts and life stories in different dynasties.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Education
The course aims to make students understand foreign education system and the theory of education and the development history, explore the rules of the development of the education, learn to use the Marxist viewpoint and method, practical and realistic analysis and evaluation of education, education ideas, and can contact our country's education practice, learn from our own things, provide a reference for our country's education reform.
The content of the course includes: understand the different views about the origin of "education problem", mainly introduces the origin of education of Marxist theory point of view, to understand the status of the primitive society to the development of education and its basic characteristics; Understand a few ancient slavery in the development of national education, understand the emergence and development of ancient education thought, mainly introduces the education thoughts of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Quintilian; Understand the developmental status of western European feudal education, understanding of the Renaissance humanism education thought; Understanding of modern countries education system, the establishment and development of basic education historical facts; Understand several modern educators main education point of view, and carries on the analysis and evaluation; Understanding of Europe's new education movement and the progress of the socialist education movement in the United States; To understand a few countries the process of establishment and development of modern education system.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Education
Educational philosophy is an important branch of education, as an important theoretical basis of pedagogy, with the theoretical and basic characteristics of the subject, is a compulsory course for students majoring in education. Philosophy of education is to analyze and discuss the fundamental theory of education with the view and method of philosophy, to provide the direction of value for educational practice, and to provide methodological guidance for other educational subjects. Philosophy of education usually includes the introduction of the philosophy of education, educational essence, educational purposes, educational value, theory of human nature, and education, value and the theory of education, theory of knowledge and education, moral philosophy and education, social philosophy (democracy, justice, freedom and education, and so on.
The course aims to make student: (1) systematically understand the basic knowledge of the philosophy of education, the basic theory of philosophy of education; (2) form the correct understanding of education, establish a scientific concept of education, and use the thought to guide the practice of education; (3) master the methods of educational philosophy, to exercise and improve the theoretical thinking ability of education research; (4) apply the theory and methods of creative analysis of educational theory and educational practice in the relevant issues, the formation of independent persuasive insights.
100401042208 Sociology of Education (3.00 cr.)
Prerequisites: None
This course consists of 12 chapters according to pedagogy and sociology, education in social background as well as social system of self-education. It includes: cultivation of consciousness of sociology, disciplinary elements and development, social structure and education pattern, social distinction and education opportunity, social transformation and education development, social role in education which contains teachers and students, social organization in education which comprises school and class, social literature in education which covers curriculum, social activities in education which embody classroom teaching. This course regards classroom instruction as the main teaching method.
Through learning this course, students can know and grasp the basic concepts and basic theory of sociology of education, master the visual angle and knowledge frame. Meanwhile, students can also analyze by utilizing the concepts、theories、frames and perspectives of sociology of education. It includes the following aspects: (1)understand the disciplinary elements and development of sociology of education. (2)understand the education sociology as the theory resources of cross subject. (3) understand the research themes of sociology of education. (4)master the macro and micro view of analyzing education phenomena and problems of sociology of education.(5)analyze education phenomena through the application of sociology of education.

This course focuses on making students master methodology, basic steps, basic norms, specific methods of educational science research. Therefore, this course mainly includes topic selection, literature summary, quantitative and qualitative research design. The purpose is to clarify the methodology of educational science research, to present the basic steps and full process of educational science research, and to train specific methods of educational science research. The teaching method of this course is a combination of instruction and practice.
Through learning this course, students can know the basic knowledge and basic methods of educational science research, make out the differences between quantitative and qualitative research, master the basic steps and basic norms of educational science research. Meanwhile, students can also do educational research by utilizing the ideas and methods of educational science research. Through learning this course, students can achieve the following requirements:

The goal of this course is to help students master the basic principle and method of moral education in modern school, establish a system of moral education values and methodology, and understand the hot issues of contemporary moral education theory research and major problems in today's school moral education practices, in order to the foundation for further work in the theory research and practices.
This course mainly studies the following contents: Firstly, the basic principle of moral education, including the outline of moral education, the possibility and the necessity of moral education, etc. Secondly, the basic method and pattern of moral education, including persuasion method, model demonstration method, discussion method, cognitive moral education mode, considerate moral education mode, etc. Third, the hot issues in today's moral education, including citizenship education, etc. Fourthly, the reflection of the moral education practices in school.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Education
Curriculum and instruction theory is a professional college education, preschool education major in China, education management and psychology professional required course. The syllabus is divided into "general curriculum and instruction, curriculum theory, instruction theory" three parts. Introductions include the contents of the task object and method, curriculum and instruction the basic concept, discipline based curriculum and teaching goals; The contents of the curriculum theory mainly studies the course basic theory, curriculum development and school-based curriculum development, curriculum evaluation; instruction theory mainly studies the basic theory, method, organization form, design, evaluation, art and teaching style.
