2. Program Duration and Credit
All requirements for a M.S. degree generally are met within 3 years of admission to degree status. Extensions may be applied by the graduate and granted by the degree committee of the college of life science. The maximum school years are not longer than 5 years (including the extension time).
For a M.S. degree, a minimum of 30 credits is required. At least 19 credits of academic courses must be included in the total credits.
3. Academic Core Courses and Introduction
Introduction to Pharmaceutical Research Methods
The course aims at helping graduate students understand the main methods and techniquesfor drug research and development.The main content includes:
- introduction to the new methods and techniques for drug research and development;
- students reported their research progress and existing problems, teachers and students work together to analyze the scientific significance of research progress and the direction of further work, to explore the ideas and methods of solutions to questions;
- communication and discussion of the pharmacy related literature.
Experimental Techniques in Modern Biology
The course isbased on innovative experiments. The graduate students are required to design an experiment about a specific topic every week. The students could manage the fundamental principles and methods through spectro photometric technique experiment, genome technology experiment, protein separation and purification technology experiment, electrophoresis experiment, chromatographic analysis experiment, heavy metal testing technology experiment, genome sequencing and microsatellite technology experiment, proteomics experiment and so on. Thus we could improve the experimental operation techniques of postgraduate students and set a good foundation for students to do their experiments well. Meanwhile the students’ scientific thought and innovation capacity would also be trained.
Modern Technology for Pharmaceutical Analysis
This course helps graduate students to understandthe latest developments of thepharmaceuticalanalysis methods and techniques, which including the spectroscopyof fluorescence, UV, IR, MS and NMR; to understand the latest developments ofchromatographyused in pharmaceuticalseparation andanalysis, which including the methods and techniquesof HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, CE.
Pharmaceutical Formulation and Modern Drug Delivery Technologies
This course teaches graduate students to understand the latest developments ofprinciples and techniquesof pharmaceuticalformulation and modern drug delivery technologies. The main contents include: solid dispersionandformulation, inclusion technique and preparations, nano-capsules and nano-spheres preparation of milk and sub-nanometer milk, microcapsules and microsphere preparation techniques and, formulation technique of liposomes.
Investigational Drug and Pharmacy Management
This course teaches graduate students to understand the process ofnew drug application and registration, informationmaterials requiredto preparefor new drug applicationand the related legislation rules abouttraditional Chinese medicine, natural medicine, chemicalmedicineandbiological products.
