Fine Arts (Calligraphy)
1. Program Description
The Calligraphy program stresses students’ inheritance of Chinese traditional art of calligraphy and cultivates their ability to innovate in this art and integrate theory with practice. This program also emphasizes on borrowing from other forms of art to raise students’ comprehensive accomplishments in arts and humanities. It aims at cultivating high-level professional talents with solid foundation, all-round development and profound knowledge who have a creative ability and innovative spirit, as well as an international vision and an awareness of cutting-edge exploration, so as to be engaged in education, creation and theoretical research in calligraphy.
2. Program Duration and Credit
This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years.
A total of 159 credits are required upon the completion of the program.
3. Curriculum
Three modules of courses are offered for the program: Basic Curriculum, Essential Curriculum, and Elective Curriculum. The Basic and Essential curricula are compulsory for a Bachelor’s degree.
The Elective Curriculum in the list includes extended disciplinary courses offered by the school into which an individual student is admitted, as well as cross disciplinary courses offered by other schools. Students can choose the extended and cross disciplinary courses according to their personal interests and career plans; however, credits should be approved by the School.
