Broadcasting and Hosting

1. Program Description

The Ginling College’s undergraduate program Accounting aims to cultivate “professional leaders” by preparing students to be competent, productive and innovative accountants, auditors, teachers, researchers and administrators. Successful graduates are expected to have an international vision and creative spirit, the ability to master certain practical skills, and contain the personal qualities of confidence, integrity and perseverance, applicable to all types of enterprises, administrative institutions and non-profit organizations.

2. Program Duration and Credit

This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years.

A total of 169 credits are required upon the completion of the program.

3. Curriculum

Three modules of courses are offered for the program: Basic Curriculum, Essential Curriculum, and Elective Curriculum. The Basic and Essential curricula are compulsory for a Bachelor’s degree.

The Elective Curriculum in the list includes extended disciplinary courses offered by the school into which an individual student is admitted, as well as cross disciplinary courses offered by other schools. Students can choose the extended and cross disciplinary courses according to their personal interests and career plans; however, credits should be approved by the School.

101303012210 The Art Panorama of Film and Television      (6.00 cr.)

Prerequisites:   None

This course is a professional film and television drama, film and television literature creation and comments direction undergraduate discipline foundation course. This course is dominated by the interpretation of the film and television art language, combined with the appreciation and criticism of film and television works, set up the basic framework of film and TV art theory teaching. This course discusses the nature of the film and television art, characteristics and regularity, and its internal various categories of art aesthetic character and aesthetic value. Students should hold the basic content of the film and TV art theory and the basic law, deepen the scientific understanding of film and television art, in order to achieve the combination of rational thinking and perceptual cognition, and thus realize the theoretical study of the deepening and the sublimation.

"News Gathering" is a professional course for students of hosting art majors. It is a comprehensive practical course. The purpose is improving students' news writing skills, newsgathering ability, and helping students to complete their professional learning and set up a solid foundation for their future media practice.

101303013005   Pronunciation of Standard Chinese   (3.00 cr.)

Prerequisites:   None

Pronunciation of Standard Chinese is one of the main courses offered by Nanjing Normal University for the Literature of Drama,Film & Television(Broadcasting and Hosting Art direction) students. This course mainly trains the students to master the basic theory of mandarin and the ability to speak standard Mandarin, so that they can achieve a high level of listening and speaking.

The teaching of Pronunciation of Standard Chinese shows the main contents of the seven units : one, phonetics a summary ; second, initial consonant  ; three , simple or compound vowel;four, the tone ; five, mandarin syllable structure and plaintive ;six, of relations with the same language flow;seven comprehensive exercise. each element explains to students at the sound, especially, the structure of the course of reading.

The Broadcasting Phonetics is a practical professional backbone course for the undergraduate students in the drama film and Television Literature (broadcasting and hosting art direction) in Nanjing Normal University.This course by teaching students of broadcasting pollination theory, training students to master the vocal method, in order to better carry out of broadcasting pollination practice.This course is the final outcome of the study is to practice the ability and quality to test the sound, and therefore, in teaching, we should pay attention to the practice of vocal control.

The sound broadcasting of programmers delivering six main unit of sound broadcasting :a, to outline;secondly, the foundation of sound broadcasting;three , with a breath of control;four, resonance control;five, the Pronunciation of Standard Chinese;six, the elasticity of sound. With linguistics, Chinese and putonghua phonetics sound physical characteristics, psychological and physical properties and introduces the voice of the latest research. To make a brief explanation of these theories, the emphasis placed in the physiological activities of the control of the biophysical of the pronunciation.

101303013007   The Base of Broadcasting Creation  (3.00 cr.)

The course is highly theoretical and practical, and requires students to build the correct view of audible language creation and insist the correct way of creation. It stimulates the eager of creation under the precondition of mastering the basic creation rules. It improves students’ability of audible language creation amd inner skills of broadcasting creation(preparing the draft, reappeare the scene, inner language and sense of object) and outexternal skills(stop-link, stress, tone and temper), finishing the process of“understanding the draft-feeling the specific –expressing in voice-expanding to the audience” effectively.

This course contains ten parts in general: the view of correct vaudible language creation, the theory of“six steps for the draft” and its practice, the theory of“reappearing the scene” and its practice, the theory of“inner language” and its prctice, the theory of“sense of the object” and its practice, the theroy of“stop-link” and its peactice, the theroy of“stress” and its practice, the theroy of “tone” and its practice, the theory of “rhythm” and its practice, and the rule of brodcasting expression.

Prerequisites:   None

This course is one of the main courses for Broadcasting and Hosting Art undergraduates, and it is a compulsory and theoretical course. Through the study of this course, the students can know the history of the development of the hosting. They can also understand the essential attributes, the aesthetic characteristics and development of the hosting art. On this basis, the students can master different hosting skills and find ways to develop themselves. Finally, they can improve their professional quality. In teaching, theory must be combined with practice.

This curriculum describes the historical development status and future trends of emcee for program, expounds the essential attribute and aesthetic characteristics, analyzing the emcee for program is an expression art of sound language and silent language. On this basis, the curriculum teaches skills of emcee on news, talk, entertainment, and the object-oriented programs to learn the reasons and ways of the formation of emcee of art style.

Radio Broadcasting & Hosting is a study of related theories and practical knowledge about the work of radio broadcasting and program.This is a specialized backbone course of undergraduate students in Nanjing Normal University(direction of broadcasting and hosting) .In mastering correct phonetics and sound foundation study, through the study of this course, can help students understand broadcasting and hosting work as a sound language art creation characteristics.Master the main types and characteristics of radio broadcasting and hosting.Through a lot of practice materials training, so that students have the skills of radio and television broadcasting, and the show host art has a more profound understanding.

Radio Broadcasting & Hosting is a very important part of the major. To introduce the skills and the demands of the broadcasting and hosting is the aim of the class. We will use differents kinds of data to make students to practise,such as News broadcasts,comments, communication, broadcasting, and TV broadcasts of the arts. The practice of broadcasting and hosting.Including the basic knowledge of the theory.That kinds of materials will help students to express well and truly and meet requirement of further work.

Through the creation characteristic, the creation rule, the creation principle of the television broadcasting and hosting,Combined with the relevant case analysis and creative methods of training, make the students clear the fine difference between TV and radio in the creative process and expression. Master the essentials of TV broadcasting and hosting the creative process.

This is the main course of Opera and Movie Literature Major (Specialized for Movie Edit and Broadcasting and Hosting).  The course concentrates on hosting of TV News Program, TV News Live Report, TV Records Program interpreting, TV News Discussing Programs, TV Social Education Programs, TV Integrated Program, TV Entertainment Programs, TV Talk and Discussing Programs and other languages of TV Broadcasting and Hosting.

Prerequisites:   None

This course is a professional course for students of hosting art majors. For the purpose of meeting the practical learning, the teacher should enable students to understand the television program planning ideas, meaning and methods, especially TV news programs, TV talk shows, TV variety show, TV presenter planning, characteristics of production, and the specific processes of TV programs.
