Guonian Lyu is a professor and Ph.D supervisor from the School of Geography Science. With his and other leaders’ efforts, geography at Nanjing Normal University was included in the list of first-class disciplines in 2017. His project Holographic Map Acquisition and Location Information Aggregation Technology has been approved as one of the key projects in the National Key Research and Development Program. Under his guidance, his team members succeeded in the application for support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). 9 of their projects have been selected into the General Program of the NSFC, and 1 project has been funded by the NSFC for the Youth. His project “Reconstruction, Simulation and Estimation of Geographical Environment Evolution Process” was awarded the Natural Science Award’s first prize for outstanding achievements in scientific research in Universities by the Ministry of Education and it ranked first. His project “Urban Geographic Information System Technology and Application for Urban Management” was awarded the National Geographic Information Technology Progress Award’s first prize in 2017 and ranked first. The Collaborative Innovation Center for the Development and Utilization of Geographic Information Resources of Jiangsu Province, with Professor Lyu as a leader, is in a stable and efficient development. In February, 2017, the Collaborative Innovation Center is rated as grade-A in the evaluation of collaborative innovation centers in Jiangsu Province, organized by Jiangsu Education Department and Department of Finance of Jiangsu Province, and the center has received funding many times.
