Guo’an Tang

Guo’an Tang is a professor and Ph.D supervisor from the School of Geography Science. He was included in the first batch of leading talent in the “Ten Thousand Talents Program” funded by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He is also a national-level famous teacher. As a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, he actively participates in and discusses politics, thus winning the "Excellent Individual in the Work of Reflecting Social Conditions and Public Opinion" of the China Democratic League. As a member of the NNU Teacher Morality Lecturer Group, he has made over 20 reports on teacher morality inside and outside of Nanjing Normal University, being widely praised by teachers and students. As the deputy director of the Geographical Science Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, he organized many influential activities, such as the “National College Student GIS Application Skills Contest”, “National Geographic Information Science Teaching Training Class for Young Teachers”, and “Construction of Ideological and Political Experiment Teaching Cases for National Geographical Information Science Course”. The MOOC “Experiment on Geographic Information Systems” which is presided over by him has been issued on iCourse with high popularity. And his research “Theory and Method of Digital Terrain Analysis for Geomorphology Origin” was funded as a key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2019. His research monograph Principle, Technology, and Application of Big Data Geographic Information System was published in the Tsinghua University Press. In 2019, he was awarded the title of “National Model Teacher” by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Education, selected as one of the “70 Most Beautiful Members of the CPPCC Committee Born in 1970s” by the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC Committee. And on October 1, 2019, he was invited by the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee to be in the audience at the ceremony commemorating the 70^th anniversary of the founding of China in Beijing as a representative of outstanding returnees from studying abroad.
