Introduction: The achievement of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research and Planning Project supported by the Ministry of Education of China (Grant No.: 09YJA740062) was awarded the First-tier Prize of the Fourteenth Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement in Jiangsu Province in 2016. This book interprets classroom discourse in foreign language teaching and construct the classroom discourse mode in inter-subject foreign language teaching by the employment of Bakhtin 's dialoguetheory. Free from the defects of the “teacher-oriented teaching mode” represented by Herbart and the “student-oriented teaching mode”represented by Dewey, the classroom discourse mode in inter-subject foreign language teaching is developing by the integration of the advantages of the two comparatively extreme teaching modes which is regarded as a major breakthrough in foreign language education theory. Since the publication of this monograph, it gained widespread concern in the field of foreign language teaching
